It's a classic 80s disco tune with amazing groove and lyrics that then AND now are deeply resonant to ordinary people...

Fine Gael​ just got € 3 BILLION worth of FREE MONEY....  they didn't have to borrow it ... it doesn't have to be repaid to bondholders or anyone else ... it didn't cost them anything and it's € 2 BILLION more than they thought they were going to get just back in September .... JUST THREE MONTHS AGO!!

WAIT A MINUTE!!

In September the Irish Times reported that there was an extra € 1 BILLION in the kitty - just ahead of the budget..just in time to give out a few crumbs to the plebs to keep them quiet til the General Deception in the new year !??!

WERE THEY LYING??  WAS THE REAL AMOUNT of € 3 BILLION KNOWN AT THAT TIME??  DID THEY KEEP € 2 BILLION HIDDEN FROM THE PEOPLE??

It is possible, given that corporation tax filing date is Sep 23rd, that when the € 1 Billion figure was reported the true figure was not known ... but it is also possible that the government would have been more aware of the true actual figure by October 15th - budget day... by October 2nd the Irish Times had actually upped the windfall projection to € 2 BILLION...

AND NOBODY KNOWS WHERE IT CAME FROM...!

Yeah right ... the revenue commissioners arrived at work one morning and discovered € 3 Billion wrapped in a blanket and left in a basket on their doorstep.

I already postulated on the provenance of this mircale money ... there's really only one place that amount can come from.  US multinationals releasing off-shore tax hauls through the Irish tax system where they will pay 12.5% (if you believe that) instead of the 35% they would pay in the US.  Nice savings if you can make them.

So if we don't know where it came from ... do we know where it's going?

This week the government announced € 5 million support for small businesses hit by storm Desmond and € 10 million for households which will be administered through Social Welfare Offices.

If there are 10,000 affected by the storm damage and flooding (which could get worse with continued rainfall), that's € 1,500 per home.  The price of a new settee and a bit of carpet.

It's likely that most of these households won't actually get any of this until after the Christmas period.

€ 15 million is 0.5% of the UNEXPECTED WINDFALL of € 3 BILLION euro ... it's not an insignificant gesture but when the government can make donations of anywhere between € 5 million and € 10 million to the CLINTON FOUNDATION..!?!?!? for the purposes of ... actually I have no idea what the purpose might be... then wouldn't it be nice to think that the Irish government would put more into helping Irish people than currying favour with Hillary Clinton? 

The Irish government (NO MATTER WHAT PARTY!!!) is in the pocket of the US ... and we need to keep potential US presidents sweet now, don't we...?
